Our classes are designed to appeal to all skill levels. Whether you are just learning how to sew, or ready to launch a clothing line of your own, we have a class that will suit your goals.

Introductory Sewing

Perfect for those who are completely new to sewing or those looking to get back into the swing of things, this six week course covers everything you need to know to start stitching anything from garments to accessories... and beyond! In addition to a detailed knowledge of sewing machine operation, students will graduate the course with a portfolio of seam finishes, hems and zipper installation techniques.

Intermediate Sewing

Utilizing the skills gained in introductory sewing, students will move on to basic 3-D garment construction. Through classroom demonstrations, students will learn how to work with patterns towards the completion of a darted peplum bodice.

Prerequisites: Completion of Introductory Sewing or equivalent skills (contact us to learn more)

Advanced Sewing

Students will build the foundation required to produce professional-looking garments from commercial patterns from start to finish. Learn the tricks of the trade that prevent your garment from looking "home-made" and graduate the course with a completed Cynthia Rowley lined dress. Skills learned: commercial pattern reading, fashion fabric cutting, darting, pleating, hemming, understitching, invisible zipper installation, high-end fashion finishings.

Note: this course is a perfect segue into Made's tailoring and evening wear courses.

Prerequisites: Advanced sewing skills or completion of Made's Intermediate Sewing course

Fabric Studies/ Textiles

Never struggle with choosing the right fabric again. In this class students will learn how to decipher and identify fabric by content and weave. Building on that, students will then learn the proper application of each fabric for all of their future projects.

Fashion Design Studio

Always wanted to have a clothing line of your own? This 6 week class will get you started in a direction toward designing and creating a fashion label.

We’ll cover the design process, color, trend, mood boarding, sketching, line presentation, swatching, and sourcing

Patternmaking 1

This course provides an introduction to one of the three key components of apparel construction. The course will focus on the development of basic slopers and will lay down the basis for the design room patternmaking. Through studio demonstrations and lectures, students will acquire a strong foundation that they will then build on in Patternmaking 2.

Prerequisites: Basic sewing skills or completion of Made's Introduction to Sewing course

Tailoring 1

Learn to design and create beautiful tailored men's & women's pieces with the fit you've always been looking for. This 8 week course will guide you through the making of a men's button-down shirt or women's blouse, and trouser from our very own production pattern collection. Fly-fronts, pockets, plackets, cuffs, collars, hems, interfacings, and sleeves are just some of the techniques that students will leave with. Upon completion of this course, students can then go on to Tailoring 2, where they will learn how to construct a fully tailored suit jacket from scratch.

Prerequisites: Advanced sewing skills or completion of Made's Intermediate or Advanced Sewing course

Draping/Evening Wear 1

Using couture techniques, you will design, drape, and sew a fully boned and lined Evening Gown. Full length or cocktail, this dress will be red carpet worthy.

This course is for advanced sewers who want to take their skills to the next level. Machine and pattern making experience required.

Need extra time to finish a project? Made has open studio time for students with experience needing to catch up on unfinished projects, or for those who would just like to make use of the machines and tools available at the studio.
